One of my major passions is food. As a kid, I was regularly baking cakes and cookies from scratch before I was even allowed to work the oven by myself. Since then, I've worked in restaurants serving, cooking, and baking, as well as spending a few summers working on organic farms.
In 2012 I was given the opportunity to manage the Memorial Centre Farmers’ Market through its first two years. It was incredibly challenging, but being involved in creating such a warm and caring community space and working to connect farmers and craftspeople with the public has been one of the most satisfying jobs I've ever had.
When I made the decision to go back to school full time in the graphic design program at St. Lawrence College, I unfortunately had to step down from the position. I have made an effort to stay involved in the local food movement through my purchases, events, design projects, and in the past year as a member of Summer Squirrel, a collective focused on instructing local food preservation courses in Kingston.
